Psychological problems of fibromyalgia

Almost two thirds of people with fibromyalgia also have associated psychological problems. Different groups of researchers have attempted to determine a psychological profile of patients with fibromyalgia. Although they could not identify specific profile, it retains about 36% of patients with fibromyalgia have a psychological profile that corresponds to normality, that 33% of them have a psychological profile similar to that found in patients suffering from chronic pain and that 31% have serious psychological problems Particular attention should be paid to screening for depressive disorders and anxiety disorders that can coexist with the table of fibromyalgia and are often hidden by multiple summarization and at the same time, under-diagnosed.
We must also take into consideration that there is a co morbidity with psychosomatic disorders, drug addictions and personality disorders which increase the difficulties and make the treatment less favorable prognosis. In all cases, it suggests a psychosocial assessment to diagnose or eliminate these conditions.
