Caries prevention in children; Motivation for parents lowers risk of caries in children

In the first years of life, the dental health in the hands of parents. Canadian researchers have shown that a motivation of the mother caries risk of children may substantially reduce. The researchers compared in their study, in which a total of 240 infants and their mothers attended a special preventive motivation training with conventional information activities. The training program consisted of two modules: relaying information on dental health and nutrition and behavioral tips for caries prophylaxis. In addition, the families regularly by phone or letter to advice and continuous implementation of this information motivated. The mothers who are randomized to the comparison group had only received information booklets and saw a video.
